Harvest vs Clockify vs TymTrack for contractors

A sourced contractor-focused comparison of Harvest, Clockify and TymTrack: timesheets, approvals, invoicing, payroll boundaries and published pricing.

Choose a time tool around the work you need to finish: recording project time, reviewing contractor hours or preparing a client invoice. This comparison separates those needs instead of declaring one tool best for everyone.

Start with your approval requirement

For contractor work, the important question is not just “does it have approvals?” Check which plan includes them, who reviews a submitted week and how corrections return to the contractor. Do you need a manager to review only direct reports? Will a client contact review hours, and under what account access?

TymTrack’s review email links open the relevant week after sign-in. Review permissions still apply. It does not offer anonymous approval simply because someone received an email. Test your intended approver’s access before relying on the workflow for a billing deadline.

Keep billing and payroll separate

A bill rate is the hourly amount charged to the client. A pay rate is a costing input for the worker’s time. Neither an hours export nor a margin report proves that a product pays workers or meets your payroll obligations.

If payroll is essential, confirm exactly what is calculated, who makes the payment and which filing service is responsible. TymTrack is not a payroll replacement. Harvest’s published no-payroll statement and Clockify’s payroll-supporting exports should be read with the same distinction in mind, as listed on their site, November 2026.

Compare costs fairly

This page does not convert competitor prices into AUD or imply their tax treatment matches TymTrack. Check currency, billing period, paid-user rules and the plan needed for both approvals and invoicing. A free time-entry plan is not automatically a free end-to-end approval and billing workflow.

Try the same sample week in each shortlisted product. Include two clients, a non-billable task, a correction and a month-end invoice. The most useful comparison is whether that workflow is clear for the contractor, approver and administrator.
